Rearing goats to slow global warming! This is not a crazy idea of a scientist but a very concrete action in Durfort Lacapelette in France. (Article extracted from ladepeche.fr, June 02, 2016)

This is actually a crazy bet of two Parisians, in their thirties, who left everything: beautiful work, apartment, friends to buy a farm in near Moissac in 2013. The couple, Mr. and Mrs. Marie Bertille Lestoille, with their four children was acting as they could, to protect the environment. They were already active in recycling and organic products, but they wanted to be more involved, “move from mere consumers to producers! “.

Therefore, in their farm, they chose to develop sustainable and organic agriculture through arboreal activities but also to raise goats and cheese production. They are also integrated into the Social and Solidarity Economy (E.S.S) in the region through Community-supported agriculture. The CSA is an association that provides solidarity contract between a consumer group and a local farm. Finally, as part of E.S.S., it proposed the adoption goats. Vocational school Jean – Louis Etienne de Caussade already sponsored three goats!

According to Marie Bertille Lestoille, “the social economy is the future economy. A win-win economy. An ethical economy which already employs 10% of workers in France! “As part of the competition” Tell me now “how not to talk about this economy of the future. One that protects producers and consumers while protecting our beautiful planet!
